HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (AP) – Two men are hospitalized with burns and three others hurt after lightning struck a tree at a Long Island park.

Nassau County officials say lightning struck a tree where soccer players were taking shelter during a thunderstorm Sunday morning at Cantiague (CAN-tee-ag) Park in Hicksville.

Five men in their 20s were taken to Nassau University Medical Center. A spokeswoman says two are in serious condition in the burn unit; the other three were treated for minor injuries and released.
