BOOTHBAY HARBOR (AP) – The body of a Boothbay Harbor boat captain who was seen on a video surveillance tape falling into the water has been recovered.
The Maine Marine Patrol worked with an underwater robot to find the body of 29-year-old Shane Ferrante at about 1 p.m. Thursday.
The Boothbay Harbor Police Department says Ferrante, known to friends as Shaggy, was reported missing Wednesday by friends who were concerned that he hadn’t been seen or heard from. Police reviewed surveillance video and saw him falling off a pier at 1:49 a.m. Tuesday.
Police tell WGME-TV that the death is not considered suspicious and that investigators do suspect alcohol may have played a role.
