WALDOBORO – After winning the District 5 championship, the Auburn Suburban Little League 9-10 softball all-stars won their first game in the state tournament before bowing out of the double-elimination bracket.

ASLL outslugged Bangor, 17-10, in the state spotlight. Brooke Bray was the winning pitcher for Auburn. Kylie Martin belted a triple and two singles to lead the attack. Makayla Norcross sparked Auburn on the basepaths with a pair of steals.

South Portland’s dominating pitching performance spelled an 11-1 defeat for ASLL the next day.

A valiant rally from a five-run deficit ended in a 7-5 loss to Saco. Calli Murray, Molly Murray, Olivia Paione and Martin fueled the comeback.
