MECHANIC FALLS – A car parked at Future Foods rolled across two parking lots and into Depot Square on Monday afternoon without hitting anything but shrubs, police said.

Officer Jason Boulanger of the Mechanic Falls Police Department said a Mercury Grand Marquis owned by Pamela Reed of Bridgton went across the lot, down an embankment and past the small self-serve car wash behind Northeast Bank. It was stopped by bushes in the parking area of Depot Square beside Route 121.

There was slight damage to the car and “a little bit of landscaping dug up,” Boulanger said.

Reed had parked her car in Future Foods’ parking lot.

“She left to go into the store,” Boulanger said, and for some unknown reason it rolled “a couple hundred feet,” never hitting anything except the shrubs.
