POLAND – A woman hurt in a crash on Summit Springs Road last week has died as a result of her injuries.

Hazel Kinney, 89, of Poland died at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Monday, four days after the car driven by her husband struck a tree.

Kinney’s son, 62-year-old Philip Larrabee, of Poland, was improving at CMMC where he was listed in good condition on Tuesday.

Larrabee was also a passenger in the car when it crashed.

Investigators from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department said Ernest Kinney, 82, was driving a Buick LeSabre north on Summit Springs Road when the car drifted off the road and struck a tree.

Kinney was treated at the hospital after the crash and released.

The crash remains under investigation.

Hazel Kinney, a former Sunday school teacher at a South Portland church, was the mother of three sons.
