ALBION (AP) – Authorities say a Maine state trooper fatally shot a man who was armed with a shotgun during a domestic dispute in Albion.

Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland says the first trooper on the scene got into an armed confrontation with Johnathan Sullivan. Sullivan died in an ambulance while awaiting transfer to the LifeFlight helicopter.

The attorney general’s office is investigating as it does in all cases in which a law enforcement officer uses deadly force.

McCausland says trooper Derrick Record, who fired the fatal shot, has been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
