, 6 Shaker Road, 657-2323, maintains the Libby Hill Forest Trail. Wilkies Beach, located on North Raymond Road (off Route 26), is a Gray resident only beach. Coordinates sports activities for the city of Lewiston with its Youth Programs and the use of swimming pools, baseball fields, soccer fields and other facilities. Range Pond State Park, Empire Rd., Poland, 998-4104. Enjoy the wide sandy beach, swim, picnic and play. Most activity centers on the waterfront which is easily accessible because of the smooth, surfaced promenade that parallels the pond. Watersports are popular activities; small boats, canoes, kayaks and windsurf boards dot the horizon. A public boat launch site is located at the end of the beach and is limited to 10 horsepower motors. Leisurely walks are a must on the two-miles of easy trails comprised of old logging roads and railroad beds. A new group shelter, playground, and handicap accessible enhancements have been completed. The Empire Road is approached from Maine Route 122; take Route 26 north from Gray, or Route 202 south from Lewiston which will connect with Route 122. May 15-October 15, 9 a.m.-sunset, fee charged. 750 acres, picnic area with grills, playground, ballfield, swimming area with lifeguards.

Town of Sabattus, 190 Middle Road, 375-4331, maintains Martin’s Point Beach located off Lake Street, restricted to residents of Sabattus and their guests. www.sabattus.org.

Town of Turner, 11 Turner Center Road, 225-3414, restricts its Public Beach, located on Bear Pond Road, to Turner residents only. Turner has an Athletic Association comprised of volunteers for sports programs including football, basketball, soccer and more. www.turnermaine.com/recreation.html.

Winthrop Recreation, 31 Town Lane Hall, 377-9686, offers swimming for residents at Winthrop Beach, arts & crafts, tennis, soccer, basketball, baseball, archery, cheerleading camp, track & field, biking, karate, kayaking, field trips and more. www.winthropmaine.org.
