It is time for the town of Winthrop to find a town manager who knows right from wrong.

It was about four years ago when a town employee was fired – and rightfully so – after he was caught stealing $30 drill bits. Now I see where two town employees get caught stealing scrap metal worth hundreds of dollars from the citizens of Winthrop and they get a one-week vacation.

What does this teach the children? That it’s OK to steal, as long as it’s other people’s money? Or as long as you split the loot with everyone?

Stealing is stealing, and it should not matter if they are friends or family – they should have been fired.

Now it is time to fire the one who thought it was OK to stay – the town manager.
