PLAISTOW, N.H. (AP) – Police are looking for the thieves who cut through wire to steal tortoises from a Plaistow, New Hampshire, pet store.

The tortoises were stolen from the Zoo Creatures Advanced Pet Center sometime after the store closed Friday and before it re-opened Saturday morning.

One tortoise was too large to fit through the hole.

Brittany Bradwell, an assistant manager, says the tortoises weight 25 to 100 pounds.

She said they aren’t simple house pets because they need special lighting, food and care.
