FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District needs the loan of a cider press for its 2008 Agricultural/Environmental Day at the Farmington Fair.
The educational session, set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at Farmington Fairgrounds, helps grades kindergarten to four students from public, private and home schools learn about agriculture as well as find out where their food comes from.
More than 1,000 students from Franklin County and beyond attend each year. Ag Day is always held the first Monday of Farmington Fair.
The cider press that the district has used previously is broken and can’t be used this year.
The district sent out invitations for classes to sign up for Ag Day last fall. More than 800 are preregistered.
Registration is ongoing for students, teachers and chaperones until Sept. 1. Home schools are welcome to participate and can sign up by contacting FCSWCD at 778-4279.
