WELD – A Farmington man’s scream on Temple Road early Sunday drew county deputies to the site and resulted in two men charged and the screamer facing assault and sex charges after a party.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Detective David St. Laurent said Sgt. Steven Lowell responded to a report of someone screaming in the middle of Weld. When Lowell arrived, the man doing the screaming, Matthew Buckman, 21, of Farmington, indicated he had been physically assaulted at a party late Saturday in Weld.
Through interviews, Lowell learned that Jesse Coffin, 19, of Lewiston and Kasey Blodgett, 22, of Weld, who Buckman accused of assaulting him, were both out on bail and violated bail conditions by drinking alcohol, St. Laurent said.
Coffin and Blodgett were arrested on charges of violation of condition of release, he said, and Blodgett was also charged with providing a place for minors to consume alcohol.
At a party
During the investigation, police were told an 18-year-old woman had been inappropriately touched during the party.
After more interviews Monday, including additional interviews with witnesses, Buckman, and the 18-year-old woman, Buckman was charged, by summons, with assault and unlawful sexual contact, St. Laurent said.
Coffin and Blodgett went after Buckman after the woman was assaulted, he said.
