PARIS – Two people were injured Friday afternoon, one of them seriously, in a motorcycle accident on Route 26.

Police said Ewing Fox, 54, of Bowdoin was driving his Harley-Davidson Road King north near the Dew Drop Inn when he apparently hit a patch of repaired road and dumped the bike.

Fox was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where he was being evaluated later Friday. Paris police Lt. Michael Dailey said Fox suffered an apparent head injury in the crash.

His passenger, 45-year-old Lisa Fox, of Lisbon, was taken by ambulance to Stephens Memorial Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.

It was not known Friday night if the two were related, Dailey said.

Dailey said it appeared Fox was riding near the right edge of the road when he came upon a section where storm damage had recently been repaired. Fox apparently tried to brake and lost control of his bike.

The area where repairs had been done is flanked by warning signs.

The accident was reported shortly after 4 p.m. Traffic was detoured over Paris Hill Road while emergency responders worked at the scene.

The Paris Police Department, PACE Ambulance, and firefighters from the Paris and West Paris Fire Departments responded to the crash.
