BOSTON (AP) – Police are questioning a 17-year-old suspect after two boys, a preschooler and a teenager, were shot and wounded as the older boy held the younger one in his arms.

Family members told reporters at the scene the wounded boys, ages 4 and 17, were cousins who were sitting on a porch when they were shot Monday night at 25 Bragdon Street.

Boston Police spokesman Officer David Estrada said the younger child was in stable condition after being shot in his side. He said the older boy was shot in the arm. They were taken to Boston Medical Center. Both are expected to recover.

Estrada said the older boy is believed to have been the target of the shooting, which occurred at 7:39 p.m.
