Yard sale

TURNER – The Bear Pond Improvement Association’s first yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, on Bear Pond Road, Route 219, next to the Turner Town Beach. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 24.

Proceeds will benefit the association and be used toward the improvement of the pond, water testing equipment, care of the dam, membership in the Congress of Lakes Association and toward a donation to the Turner Rescue. Hot dogs, chips and soda will be available for purchase.

Schoolhouse open

POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will open the Old Schoolhouse to the public on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. Members of the Poland Historical Society will be available to give tours and answers questions. There are some new displays this summer.

Scouting outing

AUBURN – Girl Scouts of Maine is offering a Girl Scout Journey for all girls in grades kindergarten to six from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 in the Pond Building, Pettengill Park.

Activities will include nature craft, outdoor cooking and an active station. It is an opportunity to see what Scouting is all about. Girls must be accompanied by an adult.
