BRYANT POND – The Oxford County Democrats will hold their annual Summer Family Fun Day and BBQ at noon Sunday, Aug. 24, at the University of Maine’s 4-H Camp and Learning Center (formerly the Maine Conservation School).

Maine Attorney General Steve Rowe is the featured speaker and several contenders for leadership positions in state government are expected to attend.

Informal time will begin at noon, including swimming, paddling kayaks or canoes in beautiful Lake Christopher, opportunities to explore the surroundings or just sit and relax. A cookout lunch will be served at 2 p.m., including hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, salads, and strawberry shortcake, with a program to follow.

A preliminary list of hosts for the event are Marge and Bill Medd, Sen. Libby Mitchell, Speaker Glenn Cummings, Rep. Hannah Pingree, Sen. Phil Bartlett, Rep. Seth Berry, Paul Dumas, Jon Albrecht, Mike and Eileen Broderick, Jo Radner, Mari and Richard Hook, Steve and Peggy Wight, Bob Duplessie, Sheriff Wayne Gallant, Rep. Terry and Steve Hayes, Rep. John Patrick, Roy Gedat, Cathy Newell, Jane Rich, Rosita Friel, Walter and Beth Brough, Diana and Ed Cundy, and Rosemary and Jim McLean.

Reservations may be made by calling the Rumford Democratic office at 364-7289, or Cathy Newell at 875-2116. Tickets are $20 per person, with children 10 and under $5; those under 5 are free.
