LIVERMORE – The select board set the tax rate at $15.15 per $1,000 of property valuation on Monday, an increase of $1.20 from last year’s rate, administrative assistant Kurt Schaub said Tuesday.

The town’s increased share of SAD 36 costs of about $100,000, and $10,000 more in Androscoggin County taxes, along with no carryover balance amounts to offset the tax commitment, contributed to the higher rate, Schaub said.

The tax rate will give the town an overlay of $38,105, which is an increase of $18,105 from last year’s $20,000 overlay amount.

The board is hoping to use the additional funds to offset unanticipated road repairs, Schaub said.

Selectpersons also accepted a bid of 3.59 percent interest on a five-year loan for a new plow truck from Androscoggin Bank, he said.

Voters approved spending up to $85,500 on the vehicle in June. The cost of the GMC four-wheel drive with a plow, wing and sander is $84,776 from O’Connor Auto Group in Augusta.

The annual payments will be roughly between $16,000 and $17,000, Schaub said, with the amount of interest to be paid overall at $9,300.

TD Banknorth was the other bidder at a little over 4 percent, he said.

The board was also informed that the oil burner at the town office may be replaced in the future.
