NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) – Officials are attributing low oxygen levels to the deaths of more than 1,000 fish in Wickford Cove in North Kingstown. The dead menhaden were found Wednesday.
John Torgan of the organization Save the Bay says he found at least 1,000 dead fish during a tour of the cove.
It was the second fish kill in Rhode Island in two weeks.
The first occurred in upper Narragansett Bay and was also due to low oxygen conditions.
