LAKE SUNAPEE, N.H. (AP) – Authorities say a 59-year-old pilot was injured after he attempted to land his small plane on New Hampshire’s Lake Sunapee, and it flipped over.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the small, single-engine experimental aircraft was attempting to land on the lake when it went nose first into the water just before 1 p.m. Thursday.
The pilot, Dexter Coffin, was taken by helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and his condition was not released.
Coffin was the only person on board. Officials said he was attempting to pick up a friend who was in a boat.
