New learning center at college

AUBURN – Steady enrollment growth at Central Maine Community College over the last several years has increased the need for tutoring services/advising and for greater computer access.

In response to those needs, the Learning and Advising Center will open to the campus community in the fall, providing support and training to promote academic, professional and personal growth.

The center is located in a newly-renovated space that once housed the previous electronics lab. The Writing Center, formerly located in Kirk Hall, has now been relocated to this space in order to centralize academic support services.

The location in the 400-wing of Jalbert Hall ideally situates the center to complement the existing support services available there in the Center for Retention and Transfer and the TRiO Success Center.

The Learning and Advising Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and will offer an open computer lab, drop-in tutoring in math and science, quiet rooms for testing and individual or group study and a meditation room for quiet reflection.
