The Educational Resource Development Trust is seeking families to host international students for the high school year. The SHARE! program, sponsored by ERDT, hopes to place students from over 30 countries with local families so these students can spend a year of high school in the United States and learn about the U.S. culture through the eyes of its own people.

Students are expected to become an active member of host families and communities, helping with household chores and sharing the history and culture of their native country with their families, schools and communities.

Host families or single adults, with or without children, are asked to provide a bed, meals, a warm family environment, and a willingness to share the American way of life with a teenager from overseas. The students, who would like to arrive to start the fall semester on time, are between the ages of 15 and 18, have been screened for academic preparedness and English proficiency, and will attend the local high school in your community or a private school. They are covered by health insurance and have spending money for their own personal expenses.

ERDT is a nonprofit educational foundation established in 1974, created to provide opportunities for greater understanding between Americans and peoples of the world. Families who are interested in hosting, should contact Brenda Hornberger toll-free at the ERDT/SHARE! NorthEast Regional office at 1-866-900-3738, or by e-mail at [email protected].
