PORTLAND, Maine (AP) – Republican volunteers plan to campaign across Maine in what the state Republican Party describes as a concentrated grassroots effort.

Party Chairman Mark Ellis said volunteers are working at phone banks and going door-to-door Saturday to encourage residents to support Republican candidates on the ballot this November.

Ellis says phone banks will be going strong in Portland, Bangor, Lewiston and Augusta, and that door-to-door canvassing will take place in a number of communities.
