BETHEL – The deadline for “The Grange in Maine” Conference will be Sept. 2.
The conference will run Sept. 12-13, beginning at 4:30 p.m at the Bethel Historical Society’s Dr. Mason House Exhibit Hall with registration and a social hour.
All registrations received after deadline will be confirmed only if space is available.
The conference will provide an opportunity to learn more about this organization, which has been and continues to be a force in Maine life since the 1870s.
On Friday, the conference will include a Grange supper plus an overview of the Grange in Maine, along with some keynote observations made by a scholar of Maine’s agricultural past.
Saturday will feature a continental breakfast, followed by three presentations on the Grange (women and the Grange, a case study of a particular Grange, and a look at Grange halls) as well as an opportunity for discussion and questions.
In the afternoon, following a Grange lunch at Lakeside Grange # 63’s hall in Harrison, a sample meeting conducted by the officers of the Maine State Grange and a panel discussion focusing on the history and future of the Maine Grange will take place.
Cost for the conference is $30 for the Friday session only, $30 for the Saturday session only, and $45 for those wishing to attend the entire conference.
