KEENE, N.H. (AP) – Keene State College plans a forum to begin a campus discussion on binge drinking.

The move comes after 100 college presidents around the country called for lowering the national drinking age to 18.

Keene State President Helen Giles-Gee was not one of the presidents who signed the plea. She says she did not agree with their statement that age 21 is not working.

But Giles-Gee said she does agree with the principle of having an open forum to share information and various points of view.

She said the goal of the local forum is to give the campus an overview of current alcohol education programs and explore what more can be done to address binge drinking.
