Church supper
PARIS – An old-fashioned baked bean supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the First Baptist Church of Paris. Menu will include homebaked beans, casseroles, rolls, desserts and beverage. It is being sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Paris and the Senior Social Center. Ten percent of the proceeds will go to the food pantry.
Library speaker
WOODSTOCK – Whitman Memorial Library will present Ed Howe at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. He will speak on the book he has written, “Tales from the Evans Notch District and Others.” The public is invited. The program is free and there will be light refreshments.
Potluck supper
WEST PARIS – A potluck supper with program is planned for 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the First Universalist Church at West Paris. It is open to the public free; bring a dish to share. Tineke Ouwinga of Bethel will be the guest speaker. She will talk about her life in Holland during World War II. All are welcome.
Worship schedule
PARIS – The regular worship schedule will return to Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, Paris, on Sunday, Sept. 7. “Making the Old Story Our Story” and Sunday school will be held at 9 a.m. and worship service at 10:15, followed by coffee, refreshments and fellowship.
Bible study continues at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, followed by refreshments. All are welcome.
Dances to begin
PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will begin its 2008-09 season from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Paris.
Chris Pinkham will call mainstream and plus level for the square dancing. Mark Ward will cue the round dancing. Refreshments will be offered at intermission. Admission is $6 a person. Nondancers are invited to watch at no charge.
Square Dance Fun Nite, to introduce those looking for a way to relax, to meet new friends and exercise, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Oxford Hills Middle School. Admission is free.

Fair meeting
NORTH WATERFORD – The North Waterford Fair annual meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at the fairgrounds on Green Street. New bylaws will be voted in.
Society session
CASCO – The Raymond-Casco Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at the museum, Route 302. The society is looking for new members and welcomes anyone who has an interest in preserving local history for future generations.
The museum is open from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. They plan to stay open until Columbus Day. For more information, check the Web site at www. raymondcascohistory.org.
Drawing winners
BUCKFIELD – The Buckfield Historical Society has announced the winners of the drawing held at the Buckfield Community Day on Sept. 1. The quilt was won by Bonnie Hurly, the afghan by Melody Walton, the tool kit by Diana Tolman and the “goody bag” by Morris Tucker. Sarah and Grace Malo of Hebron drew the names.
Society to meet
GREENWOOD – The Greenwood Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the society building. Cub Swan will present a program on hobos.
