PORTLAND (AP) – Three former high school baseball coaches in Maine have been formally charged with providing a place for minors to consume alcohol.

The indictments against Chris Grant, Frank Watson and Mike D’Andrea Jr. stem from a victory party for Portland’s Deering High School baseball team that won the state championship in June. Watson also was indicted on a charge of furnishing alcohol to minors.

Baseball coach Mike D’Andrea resigned his coaching job on Aug. 12 after the three assistants were fired, but he will remain employed as a physical education teacher.

His son, Mike D’Andrea Jr., was the freshman baseball coach. Frank Watson was a paid varsity assistant and Grant was a volunteer assistant.
