RUMFORD – The Economic Development Committee and The Good Fisher want to form a crafts co-operative.
An organizational-informational meeting has been set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in the municipal auditorium. Phil Blampied and Jim Rinaldo, development panel members, are contacting craftspeople to let them know about the co-operative.
If six people turn out, plans will go forward. If one to two dozen show up, then an office may be established for the co-op. If more than 24 indicate interest, then renting a storefront is possible, Blampied said.
Tentative plans also call for selling handcrafted items on the Internet.
Membership fee is $25, payable to The Good Fisher, c/o Mark Henry, 35 Rainbow Lane, P.O. Box 108, Roxbury, ME 04275.
“There is a great reservoir of craft skills here,” Blampied said.
