NORTH CONWAY, N.H. (AP) – Police say a man suspected of robbing two pedestrians at gunpoint has been arrested in Conway, N.H., after a night-long standoff outside his apartment.

Conway Police say 30-year-old Burton Provencher holed up in his apartment when officers showed up Wednesday night to arrest him on robbery charges.

The area around Provencher’s apartment was evacuated and the State Police SWAT team called in. Police say Provencher refused to surrender, and after several hours of negotiations, police stormed the apartment and arrested him Thursday morning.

They say he was slightly injured during the arrest.
