THOMASTON – Freshman Katherine Ventrella lit up the nets with four goals to spark Livermore Falls to a 5-0 field hockey triumph over Georges Valley.

Hannah Therrien scored the game’s first goal for the Andies (2-1), with Missi O’Connor earning the first of her two assists. Ventrella then took over and scored the remaining four goals. Annika Durrell and Heather Budzko each had an assist.

Caylee Morris made two saves for the shutout. Ciarra Smalley made 14 saves for the Bucs (0-3).

Jay 6, Hall-Dale 0

JAY – Junior forward Shayna Meserve scored a hat trick as Jay cruised to a 6-0 victory over Hall-Dale in MVC field hockey action Friday.

The Tigers (3-0) executed some fine stick-to-stick passing and sped off to a 4-0 halftime lead.

Senior wing Katie Hall contributed a goal and two assists.

Goalie Alyssa Withee made nine saves for the Bulldogs (1-2), while Sierra Loon and Ashlee Quirrion combined for one save in net for Jay.

Mountain Valley 5, Winthrop 1

WINTHROP – Shawnee Akers scored a pair of insurance goals in the second half and assisted on another to help Mountain Valley pull away for a 5-1 victory over Winthrop.

The Falcons (2-1) took a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by Emily Knapp and Emily Child. The Ramblers cut the deficit in half when Kenzie Hill converted a feed from Kayla Kaiser. But, Akers answered with two consecutive goals to put the game out of reach. Lauren Lepage also scored.

Emily Gallant made six saves for the Falcons, while Emily Vickerson and Katie Michelsen combined for 15 saves for Winthrop (1-2).

Oak Hill 3, Gardiner 2

WALES – Becca Roberts broke a deadlock when she drilled a shot from the top of the box with 16:30 to play to lift Oak Hill to a 3-2 victory over Gardiner.

It was Roberts’ second goal of the game. She had also assisted on Abby Goulet’s goal that evened the score with 20 minutes remaining.

Ashley Abbott had given Gardiner (1-1) the early lead, but Roberts tied it with 43 seconds left in the half. The Tigers regained the advantage when Jen Day was credited with an own-goal early in the second half.

Alex Donald and Maggie Sabine combined for six saves in the Oak Hill goal.

Mt. Ararat 4, Leavitt 0

TURNER – Randi London dropped in a pair of goals as Mt. Ararat sailed off with a 4-0 victory over winless Leavitt (0-3) in a girls’ soccer game Friday.

The undefeated Eagles (3-0) scored three quick goals in the first half. Jaynee Wallace and Casey Williams scored the other two goals for Mt. Ararat. Bri Martin got an assist on Wallace’s goal.

Greely 4, Poland 0

POLAND – Greely scored three goals in the first half and coasted to a 4-0 victory over Poland.

Kelly Burrell, Bethany Powers, Hannah Young and Audrey Parolin scored for Greely. Samantha St. Pierre made 12 saves for Poland (1-1-1).

Rangeley 3, Buckfield 0

BUCKFIELD – Emily Carrier kept the ball out of the net by stopping 11 shots to lead Rangeley to a 3-0 victory over Buckfield.

Devin Fay, Allison Hammond and Emma Christensen scored for the Lakers. Carly Carlile made 14 saves in net for Buckfield (1-1-1).
