STORRS, Conn. (AP) – A 21-year-old University of Connecticut student is accused of breaking into an off-campus apartment and raping another student.

Police say Frank Cirillo of Woodbridge was arrested Saturday at aboiut 2:30 a.m., partially clothed and apparently trying to force his way into a second apartment at the Celeron Square complex.

UConn police Maj. Ronald Blicher says he believed Cirillo was trying to hide in the second apartment, and was not attempting a second assault.

Cirillo is charged with first-degree sexual assault, home invasion, first-degree burglary, attempted first-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, sixth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of peace.

Police say they do not believe the incident is related to a Sept. 6 rape, in which a woman was attacked in a wooded area near the Hilltop Apartments on campus.
