Dear Sun Spots: You have helped me before, I hope you can again. I’m looking for a shoe repair shop in the Lewiston-Auburn area or a town close. Thanks. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
In addition to responses from readers, contact Tim Farley, owner of Midcoast Shoe Repair in Brunswick. The business is at 14 Maine St., and open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. They would be happy to help and may be reached at 725-8557. Sun Spots is not aware of any cobblers in Lewiston or Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: Sun Spots has helped me in the past, so I would like to try again. I am looking for a specific old wood stove for parts. The stove I need is a Jotul No. 4. It is tall, 42 inches, conical, and looks like a man’s face. It can be used as a regular wood stove, or the door slides in underneath and can be used as a fireplace.

All I need is the door hinge mechanism, so if the stove is broken or burned out, it doesn’t matter as long as the hinge springs are intact. If someone has one of these stoves they no longer want, I am willing to pay a reasonable “finder’s fee.” I will also haul away the remaining pieces if desired. I may be reached at 897-2642, or e-mail me at [email protected] Thanks, Sun Spots for the service you provide. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: About five weeks ago, I found a very frail gray and white long hair “kitten.” When I picked her up, I was afraid she would break in my hands, as she felt so fragile. I could feel and see every rib and back bone. Her fur was thin, dirty and damp, full of fleas and flea dirt to add to her misery. She only weighed about two pounds.

A few weeks passed and I took her in for vaccinations. I was shocked to learn that she was not a 6-month-old kitten as I had thought, but a 1½- to 2-year-old cat! She now weighs about 4 pounds, fleas are gone and her fur is beautiful. She is friendly, playful and craves affection. She is scheduled to be spayed on Sept. 15. After she recovers, we’d like to find her a home where she can soak up all the love and affection she desires and deserves.

Right now she is living in our basement. We have five dogs and four cats, so a quieter home would be easier for her to adapt to. Give us a call if you want to adopt this little sweetie. 674-2334. – No Name, West Paris.
