Incident Report Statistics

Between Monday, Sept. 15, at 12 a.m. and Monday, Sept. 22, at 12 a.m., patrol officers responded to 78 complaints.

Arson

On Sept. 17 at 11:45 p.m., a motorist reported a trash can in the turnout at the bottom of Lincoln Avenue on fire. According to Rumford Fire Department, the fire appears to have been set.

Assault

On Sept. 15 at 5:46 p.m., report of a fight at a Cumberland Street apartment building. Timothy Gotto, 48, of Rumford was charged with felony assault, criminal trespass, terrorizing, disorderly conduct and violating his bail.

On Sept. 17 at 6:50 p.m., report of a fight at a Waldo Street apartment building. Megan Palmer, 23, of Rumford was charged with assault on a Penobscot Street resident.

Burglary

On Sept. 16 at 3:44 p.m., report of a burglary at a Front Street business. Suspect entered the establishment and stole $800 worth of welding equipment The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 17 at 12:44 p.m., report of a burglary at a Congress Street business. Suspect entered the establishment and stole a $100 bill off the wall. The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 18 at 6:42 p.m., report of a burglary at a Franklin Street apartment basement. Tools and a pump valued at $200 reported stolen. The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 21 at 7:01 p.m., Pine Street resident reported coming home and finding someone had entered the residence and looked through drawers. Nothing was reported stolen.

Criminal Mischief

On Sept. 17 at 9:52 a.m., and on Sept. 18 at 8:29 a.m., damage was reported to the school equipment and two screens at Rumford Elementary School. Estimated damage $300 combined.

On Sept. 18 at 6:38 a.m., Erchles Street resident reported damage to a railing on her porch. Estimated damage $50.

On Sept. 18 at 6:10 p.m., Franklin Street resident reported damage to a lock on a storage shed. Estimated damage $5.

On Sept. 19 at 12:26 a.m., Clifford Gammon, 39, of Rumford was charged with criminal mischief and violating his bail after being intoxicated and knocking over a stop sign at the Rangeley Place intersection.

On Sept. 20 at 9:40 a.m., Franklin Street resident reported damage to the windshield of her vehicle. Estimated damage $350.

Criminal Trespass

On Sept. 17 at 3:55 p.m., Cumberland Street resident reporting two subjects trespassing. Officer advised the subjects to leave and warnings were issued.

Disorderly Conduct

On Sept. 16 at 3:50 a.m., Alex MacKerron, 20, of Mexico was charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor after a report of subjects fighting on Falmouth Street.

On Sept. 16 at 3:50 a.m., Derek Dearborn, 20, of Mexico was charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor after a report of subjects fighting on Falmouth Street.
