Jarrod Crockett is announcing his candidacy for the Maine House of Representatives District No. 91 seat. Crockett, a Republican candidate, views the state’s economic woes as a result of irresponsible government spending and believes a fresh perspective will help implement changes in state government, he said in a prepared statement.

“Crockett is firmly committed to decreasing the burden on Maine taxpayers, as well as promoting educational reform, affordable health insurance and a climate which encourages economic growth,” a release from his campaign stated.

Crockett was educated in local schools and went to college on an ROTC scholarship. He served as an infantry captain in the Army until 2003, leaving to attend law school. In December 2005, he assumed command of a company in Afghanistan, where he also served as a combat advisor. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman Badge for his service. Though he worked in the logging industry as a youth, he is a lawyer. He and his wife Paige reside in East Bethel.

“It is my hope to bring firm leadership, a strong work ethic, fresh ideas and an ability to stand steadfast for needed change,” Crockett said in a prepared statement.

Crockett has extensive community and political involvement, including an internship for U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine.
