JAY – Miles Hutchinson rushed for three touchdowns and scored another on a 7-yard pass from Austin Clark to spark Jay High School to a 39-14 victory over Traip Academy in a Campbell Conference Class C football game Friday.

Hutchinson, who rushed for 158 yards on 19 carries, scored two touchdowns in the first quarter on runs of 3 yards and 1 yard and completed the scoring with a 20-yard burst into the end zone in the fourth quarter. He also hauled in a Clark pass in the third quarter.

Clark, the Jay quarterback, ran for 105 yards on 16 carries, including an 8-yard scoring run in the second quarter that gave the Tigers a 21-0 lead by halftime.

Justin Shink scored Jay’s other touchdown when he pounced on a fumble in the end zone in the third quarter.

Dave Farrington kicked three extra points.

Scoring for Traip (0-4) were Mike Collins on a 55-yard run in the third quarter and Robert Ficke scored on a 65-yard reception in the final quarter.

Field hockey

Winthrop 2, Liv. Falls 0

WINTHROP – Kelsey Ouellette and Nikki Scott each scored late in the second half, and teammate Kenzie Hill earned assists on both goals, as Winthrop eluded Livermore Falls with a 2-0 victory in a field hockey game Friday.

After a scoreless first half, the Ramblers (4-4) and Andies (4-4) battled back and forth in second half before Ouellette ended the drought with her goal with seven minutes left in the game. Scott topped off Winthrop’s victory with her goal.

Winning goalies Emily Vickerson and Katie Michelsen made a combined 17 saves.
