Two big races in the last two weeks have yielded the result most people across the MVC would have expected: Lisbon is good. And they run well together. And they win.

The Greyhounds took a big race at Winthrop with much greater ease than anticipated, and then went to Monmouth and edged the host Mustangs by seven points in the boys race. Ethan Masselli finished second in that race, just three seconds back of Madison’s Matt McClintock, with teammate Alex Brandon not too far behind.

The ‘Hounds will no doubt be the favotite as the postseason nears.

Mustangs roar

Speaking of big races and conference rivals, this just in: The Monmouth girls have reloaded.

In that same get-together, where the boys lost by seven, the Monmouth girls took out Lisbon, which was expected to be a top contender this season, by 15 points. Kirsten Grenier paced the Lady Mustangs with a second-place finish.
