Dear Sun Spots: I do not know what’s wrong with the U.S. Postal Service. They do not deliver my packages anymore at my address. I wrote to them. I can’t get them on the phone. You may give them my address if you want to. Thank you. – No Name, Lewiston.

Answer: Tom Rizzo, public affairs officer for USPS in Maine explained that packages are always left at the carrier’s discretion. While it would be easier for the carrier to just leave every package, remember that they’re looking out for you and they do not want your package to go missing. In regards to the situation at your address, there have been complaints in the last few years about missing packages at the apartment building. For that reason, the carrier will leave you a slip to inform you of your package. If you are unable to bring the slip and claim your package at the Post Office on Ash St., simply sign it and ask for redelivery. With your signature as permission, the carrier will be happy to leave the package for you.

Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for the name and address of the company that sells the “tap & go” can openers. Mine broke and would like to return it to the company for a replacement. I have the original box the can opener came in, but there is no company listed on the box. Thank you in advance. – T.B., Auburn.

Answer: Sun Spots wonders where you purchased the can opener? If it was purchased at the As Seen On TV store, your first step would be to call customer service to get instructions for returns. Contact a representative at 1-800-238-7119. If you didn’t purchase one there, you may buy a new one for $10.99.

Dear Sun Spots: Do any stores still sell Chef Boy R Dee shell mac & tomato sauce in the can? Also, spaghetti in a box with sauce and parmesan cheese all in the same box? Had this when I was young. Thanks. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
Both products are still being made and sold in the area. The spaghetti and meatballs kit, complete with meat, spaghetti and cheese is available at Wal-Mart in Auburn. The shells product is being sold in a new microwaveable bowl and is labeled “mini-bites” mini pasta shells and meatballs. It’s available at your local Shaw’s Supermarket. We suggest calling each store to check availability.

Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for a large pressure cooker, one that will hold at least 6-8 quart canning jars, in good working order and at a reasonable price. If someone has one and is willing to part with it, please call 784-5361 and speak to Lois. Thank you. – Lois, Lewiston.

Dear Sun Spots: Having helped me in the past, thought I would call for your help again. Was wondering if any of your readers might have a cookbook that was put out by the Hoof-beats 4-H horse club back around the late 70’s or early 80’s. It was called “Country Cooking” and sold for $2.50. Free? Or a small price? – No Name, No Town.
