PARIS – Stone-Smart American Legion Auxiliary met recently with President Thelma Denlinger presiding. The charter was draped for Lilo Knuson.
Joyce Clifford gave report on the Department of Maine convention held in June at Bangor. The auxiliary received a plaque for outstanding work on Americanism programs, a certificate of appreciation for voluntary service and assistance to veterans, Golden Apple Award for ourstanding work for education, certificate of appreciation for donations and volunteering at Western Maine Veterans Home, certificate of appreciation for dedication to the veterans of Maine through hours of home service, certificate of appreciation from the department president for outstanding service and assistance in helping the auxiliary programs and services.
Ruth Jucius received a home service award for planing and holding a Veterans Day celebration at the Meadows.
Lucille Allen reported on her grandson, who is in the Air Force and is going to Iraq for the fourth time.
His flights have landed at the Bangor airport and he said he and his fellow passengers appreciate the greetings they receive.
Carmie Rideout reported that karoeke will be held the last Saturday of every month. Christmas Gift Shop at the Western Maine Veterans Home will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29. Members of the unit will volunteer.
It was voted to pay all assessments and a donation to community lunch in Lilo Knuson’s memory. The meeting was preceded by a buffet super chaired by Carmie Rideout, with Joyce Clifford and Rose Moulton helping.
