A Mechanic Falls man is out on bail, facing six charges from two law enforcement departments after a weekend kidnapping and crime spree running from Turner to Auburn and back.
Keith Chin Jr., 32, of 33 Dunn St., was released Monday from the Androscoggin County Jail on $2,500 bond. He is charged with kidnapping, domestic violence terrorizing and domestic violence assault by Maine State Police and criminal mischief and two counts of domestic violence assault by Auburn police.
Lt. Walter Grzyb of the Maine State Police said Chin is accused of kidnapping Roberta Voye, 44, from a party at Ricker Hill Orchards on Route 117 in Turner about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, driving her around Androscoggin County and physically assaulting her several times. Grzyb said the incident went on for about two hours before Chin returned the woman to Ricker Hill Orchards.
Auburn police Sgt. Anthony Harrington said the city’s charges stem from Chin kicking in an apartment door on High Street early Sunday morning, as well as accusations that two of the physical assaults against Voye happened in the city.
State police were called at 7 a.m. Sunday by Central Maine Medical Center personnel after Voye went to the Lewiston hospital seeking treatment.
Voye suffered minor injuries, including a cut above her left eye, a bruise on her throat and pulled hair. According to state police, no sexual assault was reported or believed to have occurred.
Chin was arrested without incident about 6:30 a.m. Sunday at 52 High St., Auburn.
