AUBURN – A toddler seen walking alone near Rite-Aid on Union Street Tuesday morning was located by police a few minutes later.

Police Sgt. Gary Boulet said the boy was spotted wandering around wearing only a diaper at about 10 a.m.

An officer sent to the area found the boy and located his mother a short distance away.

The child was returned to his mother but the incident remained under investigation. Police notified the Department of Health and Human Services, which was conducting its own investigation.

The boy was not hurt.
