YMCA introduces Rookies hoop program
AUBURN – Auburn-Lewiston YMCA announces the creation of a new youth basketball program, YMCA Rookies. Boys and girls in kindergarten and the first grade who have completed the ‘Y’ Skills & Drills Program are eligible to participate in YMCA Rookies.
YMCA Rookies is an eight-week program designed to get your son or daughter ready for the Pee Wee Division of the Co-Ed Basketball League. The first two weeks will be used to improve fundamental skills, and the final six weeks will be spent playing games. Each child will be placed on a team based on skill level to create balanced teams. Each will receive a T-shirt to wear during games.
The program will run Saturday mornings starting Oct. 25 and end Dec. 13. For more information on the program, please contact Josh LaPrell, Youth Sports Director, at 795-4095 or by e-mail at [email protected]. YMCA is a volunteer-based organization, so if interested in volunteering as a coach, referee, or scorekeeper please contact LaPrell.
