Every year at Monmouth Academy, the seniors participate in a week-long program called “Senior Seminar.” Senior Seminar is geared towards helping seniors prepare for college and all that comes with it. On Monday, the seniors discuss with guest speakers all the topics that deal with college. The topics covered a wide-range of ideas, from choosing a college to receiving scholarships and grants, from taking the Scholastic Assessment Tests (SATs) to safety regulations on college and campus grounds.

Tuesday and Wednesday were both spent visiting various colleges around the State of Maine. Thursday’s discussions included topics about credit, money, and handling the money itself. Then in the afternoon, the seniors followed up by visiting additional local colleges.

Every day of the week-long program, all students learned something, even if they refused to admit it, even if it was a just a small, simple fact that we hope never have to use, such as being able to break a person’s grip on your arms or managing money and how to avoid receiving bad credit.
