LIVERMORE FALLS – Selectmen plan to interview seven of 19 candidates for the town manager position.

Some selectmen met with a representative of the Maine Municipal Association Monday morning to review the applications.

They were graded and the top seven were chosen for interviews, Chairwoman Louise Chabot said during the board’s regular meeting Monday night.

Interviews will be held Nov. 12 either in person or by conference call, and if a second meeting is needed, it will be set up.

Members of the town manager search committee are selectmen, department heads, town treasurer, and residents Darryl Brown and Phil Poirier, Chabot said.

In other business, the town learned that between funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Maine EMA, a culvert rebuild project on Haines Corner Road will be paid for without additional costs to residents. The culvert was damaged after the section of the road was washed out during heavy rains this summer.

FEMA is expected to pay 75 percent or about $52,647 and MEMA will pay 15 percent or about $10,000. The highway crew’s work will be counted as the town’s share of the $72,000 or so cost of the project.

Interim Town Manager Kristal Flagg said documentation that included photos was key in getting the funding approved so quickly.
