Mainers can expect cold temperatures in coming days, and Mainers in the mountains might see snow between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tom Berman, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Gray, said Monday evening that the state’s mountains will see rain mixed with snow showers during the next couple days, but there will be little to no accumulation.

“The ground is still too warm for that,” Berman said.

Temperatures for the Lewiston-Auburn area are expected to dip into the 20s by Wednesday night, well below the average minimum temperature for this time of year of 38 degrees.

Berman added that temperatures are expected to bounce back to normal by the weekend, but then drop again next week.
