AUBURN – Auburn-Lewiston YMCA announces the creation of a new youth basketball program, YMCA Rookies. Boys and girls in kindergarten and the first grade who have completed the ‘Y’ Skills & Drills Program are eligible to participate in YMCA Rookies. The YMCA Rookies program is an eight-week program designed to get your son or daughter ready for the Pee Wee Division in the ‘Y’ Co-Ed Basketball League. The first two weeks will be used to improve fundamental skills, and the final six weeks will be spent playing games.

Each child will be placed on a team based on skills level to create balanced teams, and they will each receive a T-shirt to wear during their games. The program will run Saturday mornings starting Oct. 25 and ending Dec. 13. For more information on the program, please contact Josh LaPrell at 795-4095 or by e-mail at jlaprell@alymca.com. The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is a volunteer based organization, so interested coaches, referees, or scorekeepers are asked to contact LaPrell.
