In response to Kenneth Ward’s letter Oct. 15 supporting L. Gary Knight, I agree that Knight does a good job relating the state of affairs in Augusta, and he does respond to his constituents. His voting record, however, shows that he doesn’t support affordable health care for middle- and low-income families.

When my husband retired, we were unaware of the exorbitant cost of basic health care. We had been fortunate that the company had paid a large portion of our health insurance. We found that even with a huge deductible, the cost would gouge deeply into our budget. The unpopular Dirigo insurance helped us greatly.

We support Peggy Dwyer as representative for District 81. She supports affordable health care for all, not just the “haves.” Her conservative lifestyle and life experiences make her a great choice. I hope Knight’s supporters become her supporters. She has a lot to offer.
