WILTON – Shots fired on the Weld Road during a dispute over a former girlfriend resulted in the arrest of a local man Thursday.

Troy McCormick, 20, faces a charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. Police say he and another young man had had an ongoing argument over a woman for several months. During Thursday’s confrontation at about 3:30 p.m., McCormick reportedly fired two shots in the direction of the other man after a verbal exchange.

A shotgun was used in the confrontation, Lt. Richard Caton said Thursday. McCormick was released on $250 cash bail and is scheduled for a Superior Court appearance on Dec. 11.
