BANGOR (AP) – Federal prosecutors are asking that a 35-year-old Canadian man be held without bail after he was arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle more than half a ton of marijuana into the United States.
Prosecutors say Bruno Rousselle of New Brunswick was arrested while driving his commercial tractor-trailer at the border crossing in Houlton on Oct. 16. According to an affidavit, Rousselle was on his way to Massachusetts.
Investigators say they found 1,064 pounds of marijuana in the truck with an estimated street value of $2.5 million.
