Obama? McCain? Who will it be? With the election nearing, the competition is getting fierce. Every commercial break is a stab in the back for the candidates. The candidates are not the only ones getting attention. Current President George W. Bush is getting bashed and supported as well. Most of us are getting tired of the constant ads, but have you ever really listened to them? I was shocked at how few actual facts are in some of the ads. It isn’t just with the national elections, but the local ones as well. After closely listening to many of the ads, I was more confused about what they stood for than before the ad started. I’m sure many of you have felt the same way.

Are you a Republican, Democrat, or third party? Do you know the difference? Well, up until a couple of weeks ago, I had no idea. In my American citizenship class, I learned a Republican is for less government power, while Democrats support more government power. A third party could be an Independent party among others, and their beliefs vary. With substantial government power, there are pros and cons. It is up to you to decide what is right for you.

Will the Vice Presidential candidates influence your vote? If they don’t, they should. In the event anything should happen and the President is unable to execute his duties, the Vice President will. You should be paying close attention to the objectives of the Vice President candidates.

When you go to the ballot booth this November, think about what you are really voting for. What do you want for this country? Who will lead us down the right path? We won’t know until the unraveling of decisions are made by the future President. Will the decisions made be the right ones? With the economy failing miserably, and the war with no end in sight, this election will be the key to how the future textbooks record history. Will we rise again?
