LISBON – A Topsham teenager was arrested Wednesday on charges of stealing two GPS units from vehicles on Hudon and River roads.
Kyle Ouellet, 19, of 712 Lewiston Road was taken into custody by Officer Ryan McGee at 2:43 a.m. while walking on Ferry Road, police Chief David Brooks said. Ouellet was charged with two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle and two counts of theft. He was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn and released on $540 cash bail for a Dec. 31 court appearance.
McGee’s investigation led him to the recovery of two global positioning system units believed to have been taken from nearby vehicles, the chief said. He used the devices to locate their owners at 28 Hudon Road and 37 River Road. Neither knew their property had been taken.
The GPS devices had a combined value of $650.
Brooks said Wednesday that the investigation was ongoing and that there had been a rash of motor vehicle burglaries in that area.
