PARIS – Foster/Carroll Post 72, Stone/Smart Post 82 and Anderson/Staples Post 112, American Legion, will observe Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. in the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School gym.
“We hope that all citizens will observe Veteran’s Day by honoring the men and women who have served their country in uniform,” said Post Commander Alfred Healey. “Today, America remains a beacon to the world, in large part because of its veterans.”
Guest speaker will be Rep. Jim. Hamper.
The American Legion, in service to God and country since 1919, was formed by veterans after World War I to promote American ideals and to ensure that families of their fallen comrades would be cared for.
Today, the American Legion continues to fight for health and education benefits for the nation’s veterans. The Legion also sponsors programs that benefit youth.
“The American Legion, in accordance with its motto, is ‘Still Serving America’,” Healey said, “We are involved and making a difference around the nation and right here in Norway, Oxford, South Paris. We’re proud to be a part of this community.”
