BOSTON – Elaine Cyr was recently awarded the Harvard Club 2008 Excellence in Teaching Award form the Harvard Club of Boston.

Cyr, a Lisbon High School teacher, was one of only four high school teachers in New England to be selected as a recipient. She joined other teachers and more than 200 student winners of the Harvard Club’s Prize Book Award at a celebratory breakfast on Oct. 1 at the Harvard Club.

The teachers selected for the award are recognized for their ability to inspire curiosity and excellence among their students.

Cyr has been a member of the Lisbon teaching faculty there since 1986 and has taught a total of 32 years. She has devoted her adult life to pursuit of art and art education for students of all abilities.

Cyr is known as an outstanding teacher who has taught AP Studio Art, Pottery and Art Foundation.
